Our clinics and schools teach
methods to solve livestock handling problems. Instructors will demonstrate low
stress handling techniques.
Students will have hands-on experience with livestock.
We have many options to offer ranchers or cattle managers.
Some of the topics we will cover:
|
Herding Techniques |
Salt Distribution
Equipment needed Keep Records for Ranchers Plant Identification Recognize what cows eat in different areas and record it Keep a Daily Diary Why cameras are important How to measure grasses before grazing and after Keep records of all wildlife |
In the 3 day clinic we cover the basic Pressure/Release Points on the cow, How to get them to stop, go straight ahead without stopping, The third day we work on the "T" method of herding cattle, and have a contest in the afternoon amongst the students.
With the 5 day we include a lot more intensive teaching on the angle you have to have, how soon you release pressure--we work directly with each student to get them to do everything right.
With the 10 day the main thing is that they have to train the cows, and place them; keep diaries, record all wildlife, use camera's, and GPS will be talked about. They learn and measure grasses, fill out USFS and BLM papers about the grass height and the herd plan, and actually what happens.
We have several already on the calendar. If you want to hold a clinic in your area, or attend one already on the Calendar, or have any questions, please CONTACT US.
